The Baker Center for Children and Families
Mission Hill, Boston

Founded in 1917 The Baker Center for Children and Families was named after Harvey H. Baker, the first judge appointed to the Boston Juvenile Court when it was established in 1906. In Judge Baker’s vision, the court existed to help support children’s transition back into society and serve as a reparative tool for young people. Originally named the Judge Baker Foundation, The Baker Center for Children and Families was established in his honor in 1917. The Center has supported research, education, clinical practices and treatment for young people, and developed longstanding community programs such as the Manville School. The Baker Center moved to its permanent home in Mission Hill in 2004.
