The Daniel and Marlena Richardson Open Space Community Garden

Established in 2026 This space is dedicated to Daniel and Marlena Richardson, who in 1978 were among the founders of the Garrison Trotter Neighborhood Association, the longest-serving community-based neighborhood organization in Boston. Among their many accomplishments, Daniel Richardson served as a presidential appointee to the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, and Marlena Richardson served as the Director of Fair Housing for the City of Boston. Together, they were dedicated community leaders who gave of themselves for the growth and betterment of their neighborhood. Through their respective roles in government, they shaped policies that positively impacted the Roxbury and Dorchester community, strengthening opportunities for residents. Their unselfish commitment of time, leadership, and service helped build and sustain one of the most diverse communities in Boston.
