Tracing Our Footprints/Carving Chinatown’s Future Opening Reception

July 16 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm
FREE

Join community partners, organizers, artists, and neighbors for the opening reception of Pao Arts Center’s summer exhibition, Tracing Our Footprints/Carving Chinatown’s Future.

At this special gathering, the exhibition curator and project partners will share behind-the-scenes stories from eight past and ongoing projects led by four collaborating organizations. Together, these initiatives demonstrate how arts, culture, and creativity strengthen community connections, celebrate Chinatown’s rich heritage, and help shape a shared vision for its future.

Tracing Our Footprints/Carving Chinatown’s Future celebrates the collective effort behind the Boston Chinatown Cultural Plan, a community-driven vision developed through collaboration among local Chinatown organizations, the Metropolitan Area Planning Council, and the City of Boston.

About the Curator:

Ananth Udupa (he/they) is a South Asian artist born and currently residing on O’Odham lands (Phoenix, Arizona). Through dance, architecture, and urban planning, his practice invites community members to question inherited systems and imagine alternative ways of living together. This work includes experiential mapping, collaborative design, and performance. His current research focuses specifically on land stewardship, systems thinking, and ritual.
