In Our Foremothers’ Footsteps: A Walk Through Beacon Hill’s Black History

On Wednesday July 22 at 6pm, join Company One Theatre, the Museum of African American History, and The West End Museum as we bring the history behind our summer production of A New Era to life in the neighborhood where it all happened: the North Slope of Boston’s own Beacon Hill!

We’ll gather at the African Meeting House (8 Smith Court, Boston) to kick things off with some snacks, hands-on activities, and a special appearance from the cast of A New Era.

• Folks interested in exploring Beacon Hill further can register for a guided walking tour with our friends from The West End Museum, which will journey around the neighborhood and highlight local landmarks and historical figures related to the show.
• Alternatively, you can stick around for a tour of the African Meeting House and a deeper look at the Museum of African American History’s current exhibits.

Whether you’re a local history buff or someone who wants to learn more about the stories behind C1’s new play, this Pay-What-You-Want experience is sure to inspire!

While the activation at the Museum of African American History can accommodate everyone, the narrow Beacon Hill streets require that the walking tour is capped at 30. We anticipate the tour filling up quickly, and will have a waiting list available.

When you RSVP, please indicate if you plan to go on the neighborhood tour so we can plan capacity accordingly.

This is a rain or shine event. If there is inclement weather, all activities will take place at the Museum of African American History.
