EVERYONE250 HISTORICAL MARKER UNVEILING: Peoples Baptist Church

Unveiling program begins 12pm; Church service 10:30-11:30am

Join us as we unveil a historical marker honoring Peoples Baptist Church of Boston — the oldest Black church congregation in New England. For more than two centuries, this congregation has been a cornerstone of Black faith, freedom, and community in Boston. Now, its story will be permanently marked in the neighborhood it calls home.

As Boston approaches the 250th anniversary of American independence, Everyone250 reimagines commemoration and honors the full diversity of the communities that have shaped both Boston and the nation.

The Monuments and Markers initiative will commemorate historically significant sites through a collaborative, community-driven process, establishing permanent public markers that honor the spaces where cultural memory and collective resilience live.

These monuments are not simply commemorative objects. They are acts of recognition. They are invitations to learn and reflect. And they are foundational pieces of a broader vision to build a more inclusive and truthful understanding of who we are—and who we can be.
